Planning permission granted subject to a S106 Agreement on a regeneration site in Sittingbourne

JTS has been successful in securing a resolution to grant permission, subject to a S106 Agreement, on a regeneration site in the heart of Sittingbourne.  The application is for a mixed use development comprising 165 residential apartments, spanning 3 separate blocks all with private balconies; a medical centre and pharmacy; the refurbishment and extension of Bell House; and associated parking and landscaping.  The site has been derelict for several years and, although the client was not able to provide any of the affordable housing or financial contributions that the Council was seeking, JTS persuaded Officers to support the scheme due to the regeneration and employment benefits that would arise.  The application was, accordingly reported to Committee with an Officer recommendation for approval, but was initially deferred by Members to allow for further discussion.  As a result, it was amended to provide 12 affordable housing units and when it went back to Committee, Members resolved to grant consent.
