JTS have submitted an application for ground mounted solar photovoltaic array and associated inverter station/substation covering a 3 hectare site in Gateshead. A Glint and Glare Assessment supported the application and concludes the proposal would not result in any harm to sensitive receptors including dwellings, road users, and aviation activity. There is an urgent need reflected in national and local policies for reducing carbon emissions to limit the damaging impacts of climate change. Rapidly increasing the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar, is strongly supported. The proposal brings about the opportunity to significantly contribute towards the Council’s net zero carbon by 2030 targets and will contribute 2MWp of supply to the district grid.
