Ground mounted solar array in West Kent

JTS has submitted a planning application for a ground mounted solar photovoltaic array on green belt land in west Kent. The scheme will generate 3MWp of supply to the district grid and brings about the opportunity to significantly reduce the borough’s carbon footprint and help meet net zero carbon energy targets.  The scheme proposes a biodiversity net gain of 24% through wildflower planting, the creation of a lowland meadow, sheep grazing management and the installation of bat boxes. The environmental benefits are considered to sufficiently outweigh the harm to the green belt and, consequently, a Very Special Circumstances case exists to justify the proposal.
