Householder planning appeal allowed for the alteration and extension of a property in Martlesham, East Suffolk

Householder planning appeal has been allowed by the Planning Inspector for the alteration and extension of a property in Martlesham, East Suffolk. East Suffolk Council refused planning permission on the grounds that the proposal would fail to respect the character and appearance of the host dwelling. However, the Planning Inspector agreed with our arguments set out within our appeal statement of case and concluded that the proposal would respect the character and appearance of the host dwelling which, amongst other criteria, requires development to demonstrate good quality design which responds to, and integrates with, local surroundings and the local landscape context as well as the existing built environment and which respects the scale and character of existing and surrounding buildings.
