Permission has been granted for a carport solar array within a Civic centre car park. The car ports will cover 56 car parking bays and the solar panels will significantly contribute towards the Council’s targets of net zero emissions by 2030. Additional planting and fencing will screen the solar panels from vehicle receptors on the nearest road. The scheme was found to have no harmful impact on the landscape, aviation activity, or neighbouring residential amenity. It was demonstrated that larger vehicles manoeuvring around the car park would not be impacted by the car ports.
