Permission granted for a replacement extension in Canterbury

Householder permission has been given for the demolition and replacement of a single storey rear extension to a property within the Canterbury Conservation Area.  The existing extension is of a poor condition and accommodates a small kitchen. The approved replacement extension will accommodate a larger kitchen, separate bathroom and feature double patio doors and skylights. Officers agreed that the proposal represents a modest extension that would appear subservient to the existing building and would sit comfortably within the plot.

The proposal was taken to planning committee with an officer recommendation for approval. Committee concerns focused on a retained right of access (not a planning issue) and the majority vote was to approve the scheme where the design was considered appropriate.
