JTS has submitted a full planning application to South Oxfordshire District Council for Extra Care Development Comprising 34 Apartments (Use Class C2), Associated Communal Facilities, Provision of Vehicular and Cycle Parking and Associated Landscape Works.
Residential care has historically been established on the site for almost 60 years and remains an important part of the community. There is an opportunity for extra care housing at the site as part of the established care home. It is special needs housing focused on older people, where a significant need within the District has been identified.
The scheme has been sensitively designed to provide the right balance to protect and improve the AONB whilst bringingforward much needed care provision in an attractive environment. It is a site that should be recognised for specialist housing where it can provide an exceptional environment for retirement and care provision. In terms of exceptional circumstances they are, in our judgment, considerable.
