Planning permission secured for a replacement dwelling, annexe, stables and menage near Maldon, Essex

The JTS Partnership has secured planning permission for the replacement of a bungalow near Wickham Bishops, Essex, with a 5,000 sq ft two-storey 5-bedroom detached dwelling, together with single-storey detached one-bedroom annexe, a single storey, 3-bay stable and store, along with a 20m x 40m menage.

Instructed initially in 2013 for the previous owner, JTS secured an outline planning consent for a replacement two-storey dwelling. This subsequently lapsed, and JTS obtained further outline consent for the same development in 2017.

After purchasing the site, our client came to JTS to seek their design and planning services to achieve full planning permission for their family home, together with a stable and menage and residential annexe for the client’s father.

Working with the client, our Planning and Design teams prepared application drawings and submitted the planning application to Maldon District Council. After some initial concerns regarding the size of the one-bedroom annexe, which had to be reduced in size, planning permission was secured. Despite the reduction, the annexe still amounts to 570 sq ft in gross internal floor area.

In addition to this, the client owns horses, and the consent secured a three-bay stable, with a store and tack room, together with a menage within the adjoining field, which was also within the applicant’s ownership.
