Second-floor hotel extension, London

The JTS Partnership successfully appealed the refusal of proposals for a second-floor rear extension to a hotel in a Central London Conservation Area. The owner approached JTS after their previous scheme to extend this prominent locally listed building was refused. JTS recommended revisions to the design to address the Council’s concerns and, although the revised application was also refused, our reasoned arguments on design, scale and the impact on the character and appearance of the heritage assets were fully supported by the Appeal Inspector.  In overturning the Council’s consistently held view, the Inspector concluded there to be no harm and granted planning permission.
