Householder appeal allowed for ‘the removal of existing roof, erection of new first and second floor extension along with associated landscaping works’ for a property in Westgate on Sea. The Architect’s approach has been to create a modern contemporary design that would be in keeping with the character of the area and which would create an attractive building. The inspector agreed with us that the proposed development would not cause material harm to the living conditions of the neighbouring occupiers in terms of its potential to result in a sense of enclosure, loss of light and outlook and overlooking leading to a loss of privacy. A condition requiring details of the privacy screens to the second roof balcony to be approved was required.
